Hey everyone! I’m Megan! My recipes are all inspired by the people and places I love. I try to live, bake and eat simply but beautifully. I come from New York where I grew up cooking dinner with my mom every night and stealing recipes from my grandma. When I wasn't cooking or baking, I was watching the Food Network learning all of the skills and information I now utilize. It wasn't long until I became obsessed with baking and knew that I wanted to do this for a living.
I am self taught and never went to culinary school. Instead I obtained my Bachelors of Fine Arts in painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art and my Masters of Fine Arts in sculpture at Brooklyn College. So I am an artist first and a baker second. Color, composition, depth, movement, and balance is all very important to me. It is this love and background in art that I use in my recipe development and food photography. I truly believe baking is just another one of my art forms and I hope to show that through my blog.
My husband and I met in high school and have been together for almost 13 years. My way to my man's heart is definitely through his stomach, which is probably why we have been together for so long! He is my taste tester, so we are a perfect match.
Although we are both from New York, we now live in El Paso Texas with our dog Mila. We moved here so my husband could attend medical school. I am currently an Art Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso and I do all my baking, food photography and blogging on nights and weekends.
I started this blog in 2021, mostly because sharing my recipes and creations brings me pure joy but also because I hope to inspire others to bake, make and find their inner artist.
